International GCSE

The International GCSEs are qualifications that are internationally recognised and they are for students usually aged 14 to 16. The International GCSE qualifications are awarded by an external awarding body. The students can sit these exams (the exams are produced and assessed by an external awarding body) at the LML and the classes we offer are designed to prepare the students for the exams that lead to these qualifications. GCSE stands for General Certificate of Secondary Education. At our school we offer the International GCSEs which are an adaptation of the UK’s GCSE (https://www.gov.uk/what-different-qualification-levels-mean). These International GCSE qualifications are currently available in over 125 countries. The curricula of the individual subjects are designed in such a way that the students are taught to be inquisitive and to apply their knowledge to new situations. Furthermore, cultural awareness and English language skills are important parts of the International GCSEs. What subjects do we offer? LML currently offers International GCSEs in English Language and English Literature, in Mathematics, in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, in Geography, History, Economics, Music, Art, Physical Education, Information and Communication Technology, French and German. Especially in the areas of English (as it is the vehicular language of all subjects)...

Lower School (7IEC, 6IEC, 5IEC) These classes serve as preparatory classes for the International GCSE curriculum. Middle School (4IEC, 3IEC) This two-year programme prepares the students for the International GCSE exams taken in May/June in 3IEC. The Govt. of Luxembourg ratifies the qualifications providing the specified curriculum is completed successfully and grant “Diplôme 3e/11e“. Certain conditions do apply. Upper School (2IEC, 1IEC) This two-year programme equips the students with the knowledge required for university studies. During 2IEC, the students study for their AS level exams and during 1IEC, the students are prepared for their A-level exams. You may then gain an equivalence of the Luxembourgish “diplôme de fin d’études secondaires “. Certain conditions apply. Entry requirements As we admit students with a variety of educational backgrounds from all over the world we will test their English to ensure they are able to access the English language curriculum: 7IEC and 6IEC students will be tested in English. The exams will test the students’ reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. A mathematics placement test also needs to be sat....
